My passion for travelling and Africa..
I traveled the world extensively for 3 years after graduating from University in both Montreal and Amsterdam. Travelling has been a passion for me, ever since I was able to move! Born in Holland, I have travelled during my studies extensively throughout most of Europe and North America. In 2000, on my way back from Australia to Europe, I visited South Africa for the first time and was immediately stunned by the beauty of the country and its people. I nevertheless decided to settle in Amsterdam for a whole 3 years before I moved to Cape Town with my very good friend Leen Filius to start a restaurant. In October 2003 Manolo restaurant opened its doors in bustling Kloof Street in the centre of Cape Town. The 120 seating restaurants was immediately a big success and set new standards in South Africa. In 2006 Leen and I decided to buy a house and start a guesthouse. This was the beginning of 2 hectic years to build a guesthouse and run a large restaurant. Boutique Manolo, the name of our guesthouse, opened its doors at the end of 2007. A few months later we were able to sell the restaurant and we then focused on the guesthouse. The hip and very centrally located Boutique Manolo became a regular address for many returning guests. The exclusive 5 rooms-only luxury house was on the slopes of the mountain in the city bowl of Cape Town.
Business was great and of course throughout the year I tried to explore the Southern part of Africa as much as possible. In 2011 I started another business called More of Africa, a tour operator business. Guests asked me often to recommend a safari lodge or hotel in the Winelands after they had stayed with us a few times. With my European background I had a good feel of what they were looking for as far as standards and expectations were concerned. I eventually built up a loyal clientele that booked every year with me. Besides the accommodations I organized cars, transfers, restaurant bookings etc for them. I was more of a concierge-style travel consultant for them. Since I keep myself up-to-date with the latest hotspots in Southern Africa, I often surprised the returning guests with hidden gems.
In 2014 Boutique Manolo was sold and I decided to fully focus on the travelling business. I love to put together itineraries and offer surprises for my guests. From booking restaurants, hot air balloon trips, sleeping in a tree house in the bush to suggesting visiting a local organic market, I try to understand my clients and organize exactly what they are looking for.
My passion for safaris and beaches make me a true talent finding the right places at whatever budget the client has.
Why booking through me?
- Unlike the larger travel agents, I will personally create your itinerary which meets your exact requirements and wishes. Besides this, I will go the extra mile and organise anything you wish for from helicopter trips, hot air balloon safaris, private chefs and of course the best table in the best restaurants!
- Since there are no other parties in the chain and since I am a web based travel agent, I am able to offer a very competitive priced tailor-made itinerary than when you book your itinerary directly.
Owner More Of Africa
For some years Peter organises our trips in South Africa. Time and again, it is a pleasure to have him as a sparring partner for ideas and suggestions. He is not only an insider but at the same time an enthusiastic, although down to earth, organizer. He wants to make you feel at home and at ease. A no nonsense man with a keen eye for your budget as well. A pleasant and warm personality, who caters for your needs and cares for your wellbeing. I can recommend his services to everybody who want to be professionally advised and personally treated as a welcome visitor to the country he loves

Booked our trip to South Africa in October 2014 and experienced an amazing trip! All boutique styled hotels with great service and luxury! Just what we needed at that stage and what we requested from Peter. Great communication and preparation from Peters part. All details were also taken care of, even till recommendations and bookings in the better restaurants! No stress for us and all went smoothly. Really was able to wind down and relax from the moment we got on the plane to South Africa. We truly wish to recommend Peter to look after you during your time in Africa!

After a fabulous, unbelievable trip organized by “More of Africa” in 2012/2013, we took the chance for another breathtaking tour in early 2014, travelling this time through Namibia. The differance between “More of Africa” and other travel agencies is their broad knowledge of local sights and locals, as well as other insider tipps and outings.
We would now be happy to organize a third trip with “More of africa”, this time to Botswana.
